To iron on a patch or transfer, you'll need to prepare your garment, preheat your iron, and apply pressure with the iron for a set amount of time, then let it cool before peeling off any transfer paper. 

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Prepare the Garment:

Clean and Iron: Lay the garment flat on a hard, clean surface.

Pre-heat: Iron the area where you'll place the patch to remove any wrinkles. 

2. Position and Cover:

Placement: Place the iron-on patch or transfer on the garment where desired. 

Cover: Cover the patch or transfer with a thin cloth (like a cotton sheet) or parchment paper to protect the garment. 

3. Apply Iron:

Heat:

Set your iron to the appropriate temperature for the fabric and the iron-on material (check the iron-on's instructions or the garment's care label). 

Pressure:

Apply firm pressure with the iron in circular motions for the recommended time (usually 10-30 seconds). 

Back Side:

If needed, flip the garment inside out and iron the back side of the patch for an additional 10-30 seconds. 

4. Cool and Peel:

Cool Down: Allow the iron-on to cool completely before removing any backing paper. 

Peel: Carefully peel off any transfer paper or backing. 

Important Notes:

Fabric: Always check the fabric type and heat tolerance before ironing. 

Steam: Ensure your iron is turned off and no steam is running. 

Parchment Paper: Some iron-on applications recommend using parchment paper instead of a cloth.
